Introduction
When I’m at a crossroad
Standing at a crossroad can be both frustrating and enigmatic. Here are some glimpses into how others have faced a crossroad.
As you think about who you are and where you’ve been, capturing your thoughts, recording insights and creating a reference for the coming days and weeks will be essential. Journaling is an important part of this process. If you already journal, you may want to use your own notebook, or start another, or use the Day of Prayer and Vision journal.
You may have several different options in front of you. Perhaps it seems to get more – rather than less – confusing. At this point you need to think clearly about which direction the Lord wants you to take. It is important to assess where you are in your life and ministry, looking at your life from several different perspectives.
First, look through this list of talents and ministries. In your journal, reflect on the comparisons and contrasts that jump out at you, recording ideas and insights.
Next, read through this list of spiritual gifts. You probably have gifts in both serving and speaking categories. Compare your chronological ministry list with your spiritual gift list. Journal your insights from this comparison.
Now take a look at this chart of character and personality traits, which features both positive qualities as well as their negative counterparts (when they are misused). As you reflect on this list, what thoughts come to mind concerning the choice(s) that are before you? Again, don’t forget to journal your reflections.
Knowing God’s Will is crucial to making a decision. Pray that He will reveal Himself and His will as you prepare to spend a day with Him.
